Moving Etiquette 101

As one of the most experienced moving companies in Atlanta today, we know that no matter how well you plan for moving day, it will never go as smoothly as you had hoped. Even though there are a million other things to remember and take care of, make sure you think of your new neighbors while you move.

Moving day may be an exciting, albeit nerve-wracking, day for you and your family, but for them, it’s just another day with errands to run and places to be. Keep the following tips in mind as you move into your new house and start off your relationship with your new neighbors on the right foot.

Keep Disruptions to a Minimum

Make sure your moving truck is not blocking anyone’s access to their car or property. If this is unavoidable, go out of your way to explain your situation to your new neighbors. Give them the chance to remove their car from your path or find a way to keep them from being prevented from leaving their homes. Simply parking your truck at the most convenient spot for you without considering how this will affect others is not the best way to move into a new neighborhood.

Do Not Trespass

Avoid dragging boxes or furniture across your neighbor’s lawn or property. If you need to take the long way around to avoid this, do so. After all, how would you feel if someone else dragged their sofa through your carefully manicured lawn? Being a good neighbor starts with you, so be extra careful that as you move your items into your new home, you do not also trample on your neighbor’s prized petunias.

Remember to Clean Up

When everything has been moved in, make sure there is no debris left behind outside, either on your property or your neighbor’s. No one likes a litterbug living next door to them.
